MSN Search Toolbar Interactive Game

06 Mar 2006

Following the UK team, MSN Search Toolbar launched a new interactive game for Belgium in the last week of February. The Flemish version is titled: ‘Waar is Kitty?’ (Where’s Kitty?) and the entire point of the game is that you need to use your (MSN Search) toolbar to explore the various environments in the game, pick up clues, challenge alibis and discover who stole the little cat.

Have you got the detective skills to solve a dastardly feline felony?

To assist your sleuthing, you’ll have the new MSN Search Toolbar. This means, in addition to searching the web, you can instantly find emails, documents, photos and music on your PC – all from the one place. And, to keep your mind focused on the case, it even blocks those irritating red herrings: pop-ups!

The game runs until the 3rd of April, you can participate on http://www.waar-is-kitty.be (the Dutch version)

The UK version (http://www.thekittycapergame.co.uk) is already past due, but apparently a lot of people are still visiting the site and participating, just for fun. That’s a cool viral side-effect.

Chocolate XBox 360

20 Feb 2006

A few weeks ago, I was at Microsoft’s Belux headquarters, and I’ve written they had this very cool chocolate XBox 360 on display in their entrance hall. Kris Hoet, the guy we met back then, has sent me some really nice pictures of it. This is so cool ! Thanks Kris ! You Rock !

The pictures were taken by some colleagues of Kris. Kudos to them. The chocolate XBox 360 was made especially for the X05 annual event in Amsterdam, October last year.

Virtual Earth Hide & Seek

05 Feb 2006

Microsoft enroled a contest late last year called the ‘MSN Messenger World’s Best App Contest’. One entry that popped up today on Mashup Feed is called Hide and Seek. And it looks great.

MSN Contest

Hide and Seek is a version of the popular real world game. In this game, one player has to hide in a MSN Virtual Earth map and the other one has to find him. To make it easier to find the other player can ask some questions with Yes/No answer. If the player who is hidden in the map doesn’t know the answer, he can use MSN Search in the same game to search the Web.

Check out this app ! – Read more about the contest

Kick Real Augmented Reality Game

05 Feb 2006

Siemens is set to launch a really cool augmented reality (AR) football game for mobile phones ahead of this year’s World Cup in Germany.
AR was used to train gas installers through employees sending pictures of the malfunctioning part to a central database that would then return installation instructions.

Kick Real

“Kick Real” allows players to take virtual penalty kicks by aiming a mobile camera phone at their foot while kicking an imaginary ball. This is about the realest interactive mobile game I’ve seen so far. Huge ‘Wow’ factor. I like where this is going to!

Fiat Sedici Game On Google Earth

02 Feb 2006

Adverblog once again spots a very cool marketing game:

To properly celebrate (and of course take promotional advantage) of the upcoming Olympic games, Fiat has partnered with Google Earth to launch an extremely cool online competition. Under the snows of Turin and the Olympic valleys Fiat has hidden an exclusive Ferrari 360 Experience pass and four Fiat Sedici cars. The game (Sedici contest) challenges users finding on a Google Earth map the places where suche prizes have been hidden. The competition is also in English.

It’s quite popular, so it seems, because I had to try 7 times before I could enter the site. Hope it stays up !

The Polyphonic Spree Interactive

29 Jan 2006

This is a beautiful interactive game to promote the album of The Polyphonic Spree, a music collective that has some very sweet music out. Although it’s a promotional game for the 2004 album, I’m quite entertained and the final song, when you’ve finished level 3, reminds me a lot of The Beatles. During the game some tracks are used to illustrate the journey musically and I must say it’s really suitable. I like it a lot. The fact I didn’t notice it for so long is just incomprehensible. It’s so beautifully illustrated, orchestrated… I rate it ‘A’ for ‘Adorable’. You just got to try this !

Commodore 64 Revival

24 Jan 2006

I have this very old Commodore 64 at home. I remember playing it as if it was yesterday. Boy, where has the time gone ? Didn’t you just love it you knew exactly to which location you had to fast forward the cassette for a certain game? Didn’t you just love the arcade games? Wonderboy? Blue Max? Pole Position? Donkey Kong? Well… that time has come around again with the c64s.com fan site ! I actually wasted a few hours on this site and to be honest, I think I will visit it again, and again, and again. OMG Pleasure Overload :) The music, the colors… I feel so 12 years old again :) Welcome to Retro-Gaming-Galore !
