1 Unfortunate Logo

08 Feb 2008

A few months ago I did a post about 8 unfortunate company logos. Recently I came across another logo that really could fit in well with the others. I’m not really sure it’s in Spanish, because I can’t really translate it, but the pic has been sent to me by a friend who found it on the web. Since it’s travelling around, I thought I’d post it here. Thing is, when it comes to picking the right company name, please make sure the abbreviation is not ambiguous in other languages. Chances are if a company like this depends on tourists to survive, I don’t think it will be quite as popular :)

S.H.I.T.

Thanks, Kristof

It says “Terrassa’s Industrial Hospitality Services”. Terrassa is a city in Catalonia, Spain, near Barcelona.

The correct translation of “hosteleria” is “hotel industry”.

the name itself does not have an accurate meaning because hospitality and industrial have no link… the most exact translation would be: terrassa’s catering service for industries”.

terrassa is 80 km far from where i live and it’s not famous at all…

what is famous is a restaurant named “Can fart”. In catalan means something like: house where everybody is full (not hungry), but in english the meaning is completely different…

One way of promoting to the global community I guess.

so so funny i’m moving out to barcelona in a few weeks, actually going to live in terrassa so i’ll look out for it! The translation would mean they would either supply industrial equiptment for the hotel industry it could be large washing machines and driers for towels, bed sheets etc or they would do it directly!!
I feel the urge to pop in and really let them know what it means!!
