No Two Alike

11 Sep 2006

Hmm. I wonder how much the photographer of this picture got for selling this image to two different brands, both for a campaign. It’s probably me, but it made me think about it just a little.
Here’s an image from a Volkswagen campaign. Compared to the image I blogged yesterday for Mali Milk, I can only conclude that they’re exactly the same, apart from some photoshopping to make it fit in the campaign. And, if we combine the two images we could even make a third campaign for a color-protective fabric softener, seeing the two guys in the center of the image, first with blue shirts, but in the second image with grey shirts. Looks like someone didn’t use the right product!

Funny. I don’t know how much time there is between the two campaigns. I just thought it was weird to come across them in a few days time.

The photographer probably got peanuts – it’s a stock shot. Top ten reasons we hate using stock number 157 – this sort of crap happens.

(and by “we” I mean creatives and friends of photographers. The latter don’t get paid much and we end up with the same image as everyone else. I secretly cry every time I get a brief that states we have to use stock. To top it all off it says from *which agency* too, because someone got some idiotic deal going with them. Waaah!)
