Axe Dressing-Room

22 May 2006

Here’s another Axe ad from the same campaign I blogged about a few days ago. It’s a smart concept with a very funny angle. Really creative, and as you can see, you don’t always need sexy posing half-naked ladies to promote a product. It can also be really subtle, and I like that even better.

Carnival Of Marketing (2)

22 May 2006

The carnival of marketing just went live on MarketingMonger.

If you’re done following the leads Eric Mattson lined up, you migh as well subscribe to his podcast sessions: he’s currently in the middle of conducting 1,000 podcasted interviews of marketers, innovators, entrepreneurs and other interesting people. If you grab his RSS feed, you won’t miss out on any of them.

Thanks for the link Eric !

Banners With Cars

22 May 2006

The BannerBlog is actually becoming quite extended, offering a rather large archive of remarkable banners. These two are really funny to see (or interact with). Check out the bannergame for The Mini Cooper, I totally dig that one. Slot Car Races Rule ! And if you’re in for a decent invasive blast of music, be sure to check out the second one too for CrashDay. Depending on how much you can take (and where you’re at), you’ve got to turn the volume up or down :) I warned you ! Click the banners to see them in action.

Levi’s Truth Booth

22 May 2006

Here’s an audiovisual take on the postsecret meme: Levi’s hired OgilvyOne Singapore and they’ve come up with the Truth Booth. If you have something to confess, to yourself or to the world, you can go to the website and record your message. Submit whatever you feel like and choose how you want it to be featured, video or audio. What’s different to the postsecret website is that the submitted messages will be collected in the Levi’s 501 directory, where other users will be able to listen to them (or watch them) and rate them. That ‘rating’ thingy is pretty good to give it a ’social networking-touch’. It’s a cool idea but I wonder how many people want their secrets to be rated. Also a big difference is that you won’t get the ’seriousness’ postsecret has, because you’d have to be a fool to confess something really serious when you’re registering your voice or using your webcam. I doubt that there’s going to be lots of ‘real truths’, but like I said, it’s a cool idea.

Carnival Of Marketing

22 May 2006

I’ve never been to a marketing circus before, but I’m really impressed by the effort of Nedra Kline Weinreich over at the Spare Change blog. Great url, by the way: social-marketing.com! Nedra is on a one-woman mission to increase the visibility of the Carnival of Marketing, which has not yet managed to break out into the broader marketing community online. She thinks this cross-discipline sharing of ideas could be a valuable resource for everyone working in marketing, and I totally agree.

Carnival of Marketing

I’m not quite sure how it works, but apparently is some sort of relay race, aka a blog stick, where the Carnival is passed on and hosted by another blog every week. A useful effort to increase visibility for marketing blogs, I must say. (Thanks for the invite, Nedra)

Check it out, and submit your posts !

White Night Chocolate Condoms

21 May 2006

White Night had an original campaign for their chocolate condoms with a simple before and after visual. The ad was created by the DDB Group, Belgium. White Night used to be a chain of night shops, but I haven’t seen many of them since I left Antwerp a few years ago. I remember there was one right across my school, but it either moved or disappeared. It could very well be that they’re still active though. They also have a magazine, which still seems to be printed and updated. Anyway, the ad has a pretty funny statement, although I hope that the condoms aren’t really made of chocolate because then they would melt really soon and the ad wouldn’t be fiction anymore :)
