The Wind

By Miel Van Opstal

I really like this commercial. It’s totally not ‘pushy’, it doesn’t want you to buy anything… and still it’s so captive and touching. The main character reminds me of Charlie Chaplin or Hardy from Laurel & Hardy, because of his expressive and mime-like make-up and the funny way he’s dressed. I really think this approach is very well done for the purpose of the campaign. It caught my attention from the beginning to the end, and I think the story line is very keen too. The commercial is made for Epuron and has been produced in association with the German ministry of environmental affairs.

This one’s a bit out there IMO, but it’s definitely interesting. I, too, like his Chaplin-ness.

I wonder who did it as the Wind voice has a French accent and the movie was shot in Paris (great view of one of the Paris racetrack.

I don’t agree that it’s out there. I think it’s brilliant. The mime, the irritation… now “for the first time” it’s being used in a positive way (of course us Dutch people have been using it in a positive way for years now…. but that’s being pedantic)
