Axe Towels

20 Feb 2007

Shortly after the ‘feel-no-loneliness-anymore’ bed gear, we get pointed to Axe’s latest bathroom stunt in which towels with suggestive prints are being distributed amongst horny men adventurous youngsters. Once again Axe is pointing you in the corner of the sad lonely wanker with this funny yet quite useless gadget. I have to admit, it looks good in the pictures, but seriously, what man is patient enough to see if the print is adjusted in the right way? I can’t imagine any time on which I’d have ever put a towel around my waist to cover things up anyway. I either stand around naked or I get dressed. Walking around like this is more of a thing for women. Still. Funny to look at.

Isn’t it time somebody pointed out these “campaigns” are not “guerilla” campaigns but internet campaigns.

You have *one* towel made, take a pic and seed it to a few blogs, within a month half a million views. Online, not in some bathroom.

It’s not about wether “you would wear one around your waist”, but wether you’d post this pic on your blog, which you did.

They’re cool, but not to be taken too seriously. Nonetheless, i’m going to try to find myself one of these.

I find it interesting that Axe’s misogynist messages are marketed so heavily while the parent company which owns them (Unilever) also owns Dove and their women’s empowerment message, the so-called campaignforrealbeauty

Maybe I’m totally desensitized (or not), but I find it absurd that these towels with playful sexual connotations would be classified as “misogynistic”.
Please brother! Give the PC crapola a rest.
