MapQuest Crumbs

04 Nov 2006

This ad for MapQuest is really funny and very well thought of. I fell in love with it immediately when I was scrolling the Miami Ad School archive of student’s work. It’s been awarded with a Graphis Award and I think it should be able to get some others as well. The setup is quite simple: think back to a fairytale and imagine how Hansel and Gretel used to drop bread crumbs to find their way home. Now it’s quite easy to make the link between MapQuest and this ad. MapQuest provides you with information, so you’ll never get lost. MapQuest is the 21st century version of the crumbs. :) I love these kind of things. So entertaining, so simple and so damn good.

no way coolz0r. this is just another typical crappy ad school ad. there’s no insight, no depth, no thinking, nothing. being a product of MAS, we get a crappy reputation for coming out with our books stuffed with crap just like this.

I really like it though, and seeing it got an award, pehaps I’m not the only one. It’s school stuff, but I don’t think it’s all that crappy. You wouldn’t believe the stupid things I came up with when I was in school. Looking back there were some really crappy things. But sometimes there were things that weren’t so bad at all, and maybe even good. I think this is one of those things. It’s just a good idea for a brand like MapQuest. But… that’s just my two cents.
