Jesus

18 May 2006

Canvas often runs controversial documentaries about historical events or research, and this time it’s about Jesus. Duval Guillaume Brussels created an ad for Canvas and their recent series about the Da Vinci Code which pictures Jesus . This ad created some fuzz in the Belgian Catholic circles and even had the spokesman of the Belgian Bishops come out with a statement where he said that he “doesn’t see the humor in the ads”. I do see the humor in this ad, and I must say they could’ve made it a lot worse. Knowing Duval Guillaume, they’re not afraid of some controversy at all. The spokesman of the Belgian Bishops should be glad Duval Guillaume kept the necessary respect…

Apparently they’re being released in English as well, which is quite uncommon, because English isn’t a native language here. The first example that featured this new trend (from where I started to pay attention to it) was the Jesus ad for Canvas, the Flemish ‘Quality TV station’. Is this going to be recurring phenomenom? Seems so, if you look at this ad for Kanaal II (channel 2): [...]
