Follow That Mini

25 Apr 2006

A few days ago I saw an image appear on AdArena, where a Mini Cooper was displayed in a cage. Very catchy for the audience and very remarkable. I especially liked the notice on the top of the cage which said: “please do not feed, tease or annoy the Mini”. Very humorous, very clever by the Taxi agency.

Mini Caged

But there’s another thing that has been pulled off for this Mini Cooper campaign, and once again I must say it’s very well done. This stunt was created by Dommocreativecenter, and organized in the north of Spain at the Molina ski resort. Great idea !

Adidas F50

25 Apr 2006

This is a really cool 3D clip produced by 180\TBWA Amsterdam. The client is Adidas, and it’s designed for the adidas.com/football site, promoting the +10 campaign I blogged about last month. I never saw this clip before, but I must say the visuals are very well done. The concept isn’t new but who cares with eye-candy like this?

IKEA Screamer Ad

25 Apr 2006

Heheh, here’s a cool ad from IKEA, the Swedish low-price furniture chain. In this clip a guy is screaming very very loud because he ‘wants to loose his voice in order to “pull a sickie” and give himself an excuse to stay home. With IKEA’s cool solutions, who wouldn’t do that?’ Clever thinking. I found it on the TWBA Blog from the Portugese department, through YouTube. I don’t know if they’re behind it. My portugese is really bad, but they post a lot of nice cases.

Keyboard Sneakers

25 Apr 2006

Following the meme of AZERTY Jewelry, some geeky designer came up with these keyboard sneakers of which I must say they look pretty funky. The sneakers were presented at the 14th International Clothing & Accessories Fair in Beijing, China. What a way to recycle that old keyboard. DIY tip: good way to get through a rainy day. :)

The Bagvertising Summum Bonum

24 Apr 2006

Seriously, we’ve all seen the bag-rage taking off and by now the only thing left is the me-too crowd jumping on the me-too train. But there’s something with this certain bag that just really makes a difference. It’s not a bag with an ad, it’s a bag with a message. The message isn’t meant to make a statement towards the world, it’s only meant for she who wears the purse/bag.

RFID Purse

From ShinyShiny:

The image that flashes up varies depending on which item is missing so you’ll know what to frantically hunt for when you’re running late for that train. You’ll need to stick on RFID tags to your most important handbag essentials and then the RFID reader inside the bag will let you know when something’s not on board. The bag is called the Ladybag [...]

In case you missed the whole ‘bag buzz’, BriefBlog has a rather complete overview posted.

Unicef & Amnesty Guerrilla

24 Apr 2006

I found these at Coloribus. They were listed in the same category because they both use plastic hands placed on a sewer grill. Nicely done. Very touching and very effective. While the guerrilla for Amnesty protests against the fact that people are being put behind bars just for having the wrong opinion (as tattood on the fingers), the Unicef campaign wants to catch the attention of passers-by because street kids are being put in jail for no reason at all in a lot of countries… Both causes are worth fighting for and deserve the attention.

Unicef Prison

Unicef Street View

I can barely wait to see active RFID bags that ‘glow’ a message when you carry around a certain product. That would be really cool. Think of a roduct bag that lights up as long as the product (or the tag of it) is inside it. It would be a marketing hit. You’d make a strong statement for sure.

ASCII Billboard

24 Apr 2006

Electronic Arts, the well-known games developer, placed this billboard in front of a competitor’s building. The text is written in ASCII code and translated means: “We”re hiring!”. It looks rather meaningless to 99% of the world, but I guess to some geeky coders it’s a joy to be spoken to in their adopted language.

Now if they would hire somebody in binary, it would look like this:
