Multi-Touch Interaction Research

09 Feb 2006

Wim just sent me this link to Jefferson Y. Han’s project:

While touch sensing is commonplace for single points of contact, multi-touch sensing enables a user to interact with a system with more than one finger at a time, as in chording and bi-manual operations. Such sensing devices are inherently also able to accommodate multiple users simultaneously, which is especially useful for larger interaction scenarios such as interactive walls and tabletops.

Demo:

Download the Demo Reel for WinMedia .wmv (17mb) or in .mp4 (12mb) for QuickTime.

Check out the Multi-Touch Interaction Research website to learn more.

THAT is what computer designers need to aim for. MORE usability and LESS obfuscatability. Is that even a word?

That is very very awesome. You can see something similar to this (minus the display) at http://www.hakenaudio.com/Continuum/
Also, that multi-touch display, with tactile feedback. Someday… B)
