Lost In Post-Its

13 Feb 2007

Alejandro sent in this great ad they’ve done for Post-it, the sticky yellow notes. It’s quite a brainbreaker if you’re not up to date with the popular series ‘Lost’, but if you are a regular watcher you’ll know for sure what it means. On the one hand I love it how they break down the target audience to ‘the in-crowd’ that follows the hit series, but on the other hand it’s a long shot to reach out to the thousands of people who don’t. Leaving them out of the campaign seems a bit like a waste of money to me… I don’t know. I’m still torn between: “hey this is cool” and “wtf”. If I didn’t know that the island inhabitants needed to enter “4 8 15 16 23 42″ every 108 minutes on a computer to control the magnetic field that keeps the island together, the entire message would just go by unnoticed. On the other hand, if you know what it means you have a ‘wow’ feeling when you see the ad. Pretty cool though. Would be a great brand placement if it actually was used in the series itself.
