Durex Ads Galore

27 May 2006

Here are some really cute ads for Durex, the leading brand in rainjackets for the mini-me. Some of them are pretty old already, others are more recent. All of them are quite amusing.

Condom Ads

27 May 2006

I was browsing through my external hard disk and found a map of condom ads with some really funny ones that I haven’t seen much around, so I thought I’d give them some extra attention and blog them here, just to add them to my archive of cute ads and because some of them are too good to keep them for my own. I’ll split the load (pun intended) into two posts, because a lot of them are for the same brand (Durex) and I’d like to keep ‘m together. The ads below are for various brands.

Design Against Fur

27 May 2006

InFurMation has listed the winners of the Design Against Fur contest 2006. You can find the entries from Russia here and the American entries here. Entries for Canada, UK & Ireland and Europe are still to be posted. Although a lot of the designs are without any doubt far too cruel to have them posterized across towns and cities, I’m sure that most of them do have a valid point. I also think killing any kind of animals just for their fur is wrong and should be fought against. This is one way to start preventing the horrible reality.

Mosquito Facts

27 May 2006

It’s that time of the year, right on the threshold of summer, where you can’t leave your window open anymore without having those damn buzzing insects that come to keep you from your sleep. Quite frustrating when you’re in the middle of a good night’s rest when all of the sudden one of those little bandits decided your ear might be a good place to start a private performance of the ultrasone version of Pavarotti’s latest aria. Here are a few ads that promote an alternative solution for the clap-dance you might find yourself in for a few hours when you’ve had enough of it and decided to chase the buggers to extinction, cursing your way through the room.

Advertising Slogan Generator

26 May 2006

Heheh. It might be old, I still think it’s funny. Here’s what I came up with after a few hits on the button:

  • Don’t Be Vague. Ask for Coolz0r.
  • With A Name Like Coolz0r, It Has To Be Good.
  • Stimulation for Body and Coolz0r.
  • Things Go Better with Coolz0r.
  • Maybe She’s Born With It, Maybe It’s Coolz0r.
  • Pure Coolz0r.
  • A Coolz0r Is Forever.
  • I’d Walk a Mile for a Coolz0r.
  • It’s a Beautiful Coolz0r.
  • Vorsprung Durch Coolz0r.

The Advertising Slogan Generator currently has 503 slogans to spoil you with. Check it out.

Freaky PlayStation2 Ads

26 May 2006

Another series of very weird PlayStation2 ads, produced by TBWA/Paris. The last one of the three was recently awarded with a Grand Clio in the category ‘print’. I’m not quite sure how the pile of human body parts is related to the PlayStation 2, but it’s pretty funny to see that Sony gives such a creative freedom to the agencies it works with.

Words Create Worlds

26 May 2006

Here’s a cute campaign for the Anagram Bookshop, created by the Kaspen agency. Incredibly simple yet so effective. If there’s one thing a good book can do, then it must be the playful tricks of mind it can evoke while reading. These ads picture that exactly the way they should. A book is more than a chunk of paper. It’s a dream, a creative cruise through the land of imagination. I wish I had more time to read novels and stories instead of marketing books. I’ve got to go by the bookstore more often and buy me some things to read during the holidays or before I go to sleep.

Fast News From Bild

26 May 2006

It’s bit of a classic approach, but I like this ad a lot. I remember when I was little and I went to the clothing or shoe stores with my mom, I always looked for mirrors that were placed directly in oppisite positions, because when I then stood in between them, I’d get an infinite reflection. Yeah, it sounds weird, but what else is a kid supposed to do while waiting? This ad sort of reminds me of that, because the headline of the newspaper is guy that holds the newspaper with a headline of the same guy that holds the same newspaper, which also has the headline of that same guy with that same newspaper. It’s a statement for Bild that they are the fastest in delivering news.
