Ricky Gervais’ Countdown

22 Jan 2006

By Monday, when the 8th episode will have launched, there’ll only be four podcasts left in the series of 12. You just got to tune in to this because it’s so worth it. Too bad you can’t download the first podcasts anymore because once you’ve tuned in you’ll feel so addicted you just need them to live on.

I’ve already linked to this on Dec. 6th when the first show was online, and it got better and better every single time. There is no funnier thing than Ricky. I absolutely adore his sense of humor and if it was possible to buy a piece of his brain, I would eat it, in the hopes it would make me as crazy and brilliant as he is. I know it wouldn’t happen, but still. If he didn’t live in the UK, I’d probably go to every on-stage performance he’d give. Dammit. Why can’t he come on tour here in Belgium?

Today I’m listening to the seventh podcast which according to the introduction/description would be the episode “in which Ricky, Steve and Karl discuss… The pictorial canonisation of St Karl the Bewildered; how fingers that do dishes can feel soft as your face; sound advice on maintaining good neighbourly relations; Karl’s choice alter ego; the philosophical truth that is ‘cogito ergo Karl’; sowing the seeds of doom; medical technology in the 21st century; monkey news.”

The fear that they actually might stop making the podcasts when they’ve reached episode 12 is getting more real every week. We can’t let this happen. They must come back. It’s a legacy we must carry to our future. If there could be some sort of time resistant box they shove into the ground, please let it contain all of these episodes.

Tune in on Monday when they release episode 8. You just have to.

Ricky Gervais by Ray Burmiston

I learned today that Plato actually died from an egg. You see, in ancient Greece, there were huge birds that dropped eggs on rocks, and apparently Plato had a big shiny hairless head. When Plato was walking on the beach, some giant bird flew over, thought it was a rock and dropped an egg on Plato’s head. That’s how he died. :) This podcast series rewrites history in a way it should have happened. You just have to adore this. Truly. Wicked.

If you don’t love him by now then you’re obviously not going to chip in for his statue neither, which makes this entire post useless to you. Please carry on then, and live your dull life elsewhere. :)
